Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology Kindergarten Teacher Deborah Haiman was commended for the way she used the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program to teach and encourage students. It’s the first time an individual has been highlighted by the federal auditor and singled out for a commendation.
T.C. Williams High School has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles. T.C. Williams is one of only eight public schools in Virginia and one of 490 schools in total to be recognized with this award — out of more than 18,000 secondary schools worldwide that offer AP courses.
On Thursday night, the Board discussed the TAG program, Students with Disabilities evaluation and progress towards its ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan goals. The Board also celebrated our recent Scholastic Bowl win and students who successfully participated in National History Day.

Thursday night’s School Board meeting included recognition of our 18 National Board Certified Teachers, an update on community partnerships and an overview of the planning process leading to a new strategic plan for 2025.
ACPS announced formal plans to take steps to partner with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) on an Early College High School program as part of the new Connected High School Network to be set up through The High School Project. Early College will allow students the opportunity to graduate with an associate degree from NOVA at the same time as they graduate from T.C. Williams.
