    Opinion: Double Standards in Sports

    The annual “March Madness”  basketball tournament always creates a lot of buzz in the sports community. Typically, when the tournament is mentioned, people assume that they are talking about the men’s tournament. Recognizing and equally appreciating women's sports has been an issue for a while now, but significant progress has been made. This year, the women's tournament was much more entertaining than the men’s. The women’s tournament was competitive and intense while the men’s final four consisted of seemingly random teams. In the women’s championship game between The University of Iowa and Louisiana State University, there were 2 main players who stood out, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.

    Titans Wrestle Their Way to Victory at City Championship

    On January 10 in the ACHS gym “The Garden,” the AC Titan wrestling team won the Alexandria City Championship while facing off against wrestlers from St. Stephens and St. Agnes School (SSSAS), Bishop Ireton (BI) and Episcopal High School. This meet was also senior night for the AC Titans, where we celebrated our four senior wrestlers: Will Damond, Wish Denby, Bassem Sliti and Calvin Weidmeyer along with senior managers Kate Harbour and Jasmine Marshall.

    Titans Football Season Highlights

    After going on a 4-1 streak through the non-conference portion of their schedule, last Friday the Alexandria City Titans came up short in their first conference game of the season. The hard-fought 50-28 loss was to the undefeated Lake Braddock Bruins.

    Without Lunch and Learn, Clubs Struggle to Meet

    As the debate on Lunch and Learn’s potential return continues, many clubs begin to meet after school since meeting during school is no longer an option. Homework, sports, and overall availability are among the challenges that make it difficult for students to participate in clubs after school. Many students support Lunch and Learn since it would give them more time in their schedule to stay involved with clubs.
