    Spotlight on Miracle Gross: A Creator, A Speaker and a Role Model

    During her four years at Alexandria City High School, Miracle Gross has gone above and beyond to be involved in the school community. From being in the National Honors Society to running her own small business, there is not much that she hasn’t done! Now, Gross is getting ready to graduate and will be continuing her studies at Hampton University. Also known as, “the Black Ivy League and my home by the Sea,” as said by Gross.

    Dr. Melon Cee-Howatt Leaves Her Mark on ACHS

    On March 31, 2023, Superintendent Dr. Melon Cee-Howatt pulled up to ACHS for the first time ever! To many, it came as a shock to see Cee-Howatt step foot in the school. Up until today, Cee-Howatt ever visiting ACHS seemed to be an urban legend created by her senior leadership team. Although the visit was unplanned, students and administrators had a lot to say about the encounter.

    With the 2023-2024 school year coming up very quickly, counselors have begun to meet with students to help them choose their schedules for the next school year. For many students, choosing their new classes is very exciting and important, as these classes may influence their future career choices. This year, students may notice a few new course options that are coming to Alexandria City High School.

    Salone Club is a new, emerging club that has made its way to ACHS. This club recognizes Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa, and its culture. Salone Club is a safe space for students to relax and meet new people at ACHS.

    Without Lunch and Learn, Clubs Struggle to Meet

    As the debate on Lunch and Learn’s potential return continues, many clubs begin to meet after school since meeting during school is no longer an option. Homework, sports, and overall availability are among the challenges that make it difficult for students to participate in clubs after school. Many students support Lunch and Learn since it would give them more time in their schedule to stay involved with clubs.
