Poem For Zoey by Kinesha Beafore

You sit in the gray tub, eyes filled with wonder at the new world in front of you

A ball of energy, the tub cannot contain your rocking back and forth to a thing they call the blues

Your eyes so deep, so knowing you see my soul

My little sock sorter don’t you know you make me whole

In your own little world content as can be

Your smile says “Hey come in with me”

But I can’t, my world won’t fit

You start to climb out with such haste

But I say no little one just wait

My world isn’t yours but I wish it was

And when you become part of my world, I still will feel for my little one

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
