A wise man once stood
In front of a crowd of a hundred or more
With a fearless impression
Coming from the blood in his eye
And spoke with a voice
Capable of leading any Nation stating that
“Education is our passport to the future,
for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today”
I’ve always believed this to be true
Because to me
True Liberation of any people
Begins with the turning of a forgotten page
Where every complete sentence or equation written with permanent ink
Guides your existence
Closer to the type of Equality
Scarcely seen in the darkest crevices
Of a dysfunctional family
When I hear
“No child left behind”
I reflect upon the hardheaded & younger me
The trials and tribulations
That fabricated me, to be Free
Yet I’ve never viewed a good education
To merely be hours of informative lectures
My mother taught me better than that
Instead, I’ve always envisioned it as a far-reaching GPS
Guiding me to my Personal Salvation
