Upcoming Senior Events

As the final weeks of the year approach, the calendar is full of events. Throughout late May and early June, seniors will have many opportunities to celebrate their final year at AC. Below is a detailed list of all the events seniors have to look forward to.

Decision Day- May 2

Decision day will be held on May 2 during lunch & learn in quiet dining. This is a chance for seniors to celebrate their post graduate plans.

Cap and Gown Distribution- May 3-5

Seniors who have not yet ordered their cap, gown, and tassel should do so at hjvirginia.com. Seniors can pick up their graduation kit in the auditorium during lunch & learn from May 3 to May 5. Seniors can pick between red, blue, and white for their cap and gown color.

Prom- May 7

Prom is at the Renaissance Capital View Hotel in Arlington from 8 to 11 pm. Tickets cost $45 for ACHS students and $50 for outside guests. To purchase tickets, seniors need their ID, their student ID number, their prom promise form, and either cash or a check. Seniors bringing an outside guest also need to bring their filled out guest form. Both forms are available in the main office. The last day to buy tickets is next Tuesday during lunch and learn.

Senior Experience- May 16-27

Senior experience is a two week internship opportunity for all seniors. Students can pick their internship as long as it falls within the loose parameters that the internship cannot be with at ACHS or with a family member. The internship period is two weeks, May 16 through May 27. Students participating in senior experience should fill out the mentor form with their mentor that provides an overview of the contract hours and what the student will be doing. Students should also be filling out their timesheet daily.

Senior Experience Capstone Presentations- May 31

Students participating in senior experience should prepare presentations that are approximately 5-7 minutes that give a summary of what the internship was and what they learned. Capstone presentations for senior experience will be held over Zoom on May 31. A link to a signup genius will be sent out so students can sign up for the Zoom session they want. Students will be put into breakout rooms and will present to small groups of about 4 or 5 students and a mentor. 

Graduation March- June 2

The google form to sign up for March of the Titans is available now. Students pick their preferences for elementary and middle schools. On June 2, seniors meet in the auditorium at 8:30 am before going to the schools they chose. Caps and gowns are required for this event. 

Graduation Rehearsal- June 3

There will be two graduation rehearsals on June 3rd but each senior will only go to one. Rehearsal is mandatory for everyone and both will be held in the auditorium. The morning rehearsal, for seniors in academies 1-4 is from 9:30 to 11:30 am. The afternoon rehearsal, academies 5-8, is from 1:30 to 3 pm. 

Graduation- June 4

On the morning of graduation, all seniors should be in the auditorium by 6:30 am. All seniors must wear their cap, gown, and tassel. Seniors will all ride ACPS buses to George Mason. The processional begins at 9:15 am and the ceremony begins at 9:30 am. Immediately following graduation, diplomas will be distributed by school counselors in the East Concourse. If any items are being stored for graduates, they will be available for pickup in the same place as diplomas. Each senior will receive five graduation tickets.

Note: All deficiencies must be paid prior to graduation.

All Night Grad Party- June 4The all night graduation party is on the same day as graduation. It is in the ACHS gym and goes from 10:30 pm to 3:00 am. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased at https://tcwallnightgradparty.com.
