Calling all Musicians to the ACHS Musicians Club

ACHS is a diverse community with a variety of clubs, but sophomore Miranda Tonsetic thought something was missing. With sophomore Eliza Gwin and freshman Maddie Cantrell, Tonsetic started the ACHS Musicians Club.

The club is a place for musicians of all kinds to make music and participate in music-related volunteer work and performance opportunities. The club aims to get more of the Titan community interested in music. “We hope the club gets more students interested in music in the future,” Tonsetic said, “it’s a really cool chance for students who have never gotten the opportunity to show off their musical abilities to explore their potential.”

The club organizes showcases to display the talent of its members and give those who have not gotten the opportunity to do so. The club’s first showcase took place at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub on November 12, 2021.

The showcase featured performers singing original songs as well as covers. To view the performances, go to the Titan Media Alexandria YouTube channel. Further showcases are being planned at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub locations at both their Del Ray and Old Town locations.

The club is also volunteering at Alexandria elementary schools to work with their music teachers to teach students more about musical topics, including songwriting and playing instruments. “We played a song for the kids and […] taught a lesson on songwriting and rhyme,” Tonsetic said. Members are also creating videos to be shown in music classes of various elementary schools in the area.

The ACHS Musicians Club is a great way for students who have an interest in music to further explore their interests.
