Beginning on Monday, September 25, T.C. Williams High School students can ride DASH buses for free throughout Alexandria as part of a new partnership between ACPS and the Alexandria Transportation Company.
The new program will enable T.C. students at the Minnie Howard, King Street and satellite campuses to show their student ID for a free ride on any DASH bus, any time of day, any day of the week, throughout the school year.
The program is the result of a new partnership between ACPS and the Alexandria Transit Company that will enable ACPS high school students to ride DASH buses for free throughout the City of Alexandria as part of a new pilot program that will launch on September 25 and will run through the school year, ending on June 20, 2018.
This new program is a terrific demonstration of how community partnerships benefit our community as a whole. This program will provide a valued service to our students and families, some of whom face significant transportation challenges in navigating between home, school, extra-curricular activities and work. We are really pleased to work with the Alexandria Transit Company to address this need,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Lois F. Berlin.
Students must present an official student ID in order to take advantage of the free bus rides on DASH.
T.C. families, please mark you calendar for picture day, which is when students will receive their official school ID:
- September 21 and 22: Underclass picture day at King Street and Minnie Howard campuses*
- October 2-6: Senior picture day
- October 24: Underclass make-up picture day at King Street and Minnie Howard campuses
- November 15: Senior make-up picture day
- Satellite campus picture day is to be determined
* In light of a conflict with a religious holiday that begins on September 20, we are working with Lifetouch, our vendor, to make alternative arrangements for the picture days currently scheduled for September 21 and 22. We will notify students and parents once arrangements have been made.
