ACPS Announces Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest Winners

Congratulations to Ciara Rivera Zayas, 4th-grade student at Samuel Tucker Elementary School, and William Johnson Hemsley, 6th-grade student at Jefferson-Houston School, for winning the Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest.

The winners will each receive a $50 gift card and their posters will be used in next year’s red ribbon campaign.

The contest asked ACPS students to design posters for Drug Prevention Awareness Month that expressed their ideas about drug prevention through art. It received a large amount of entries from elementary and middle school students.

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug campaign in the United States. The Red Ribbon is a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The aim of the campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a Drug-Free America.
