Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) has now opened kindergarten registration for the 2022-23 academic year and encourages everyone to register their kindergarten students early. Families can use the registration webpage to check that their child meets age requirements and learn about the required documents to enroll for the upcoming school year. In addition, ACPS is hosting virtual kindergarten open houses so families can learn more about their school. Visit the website for your school for details about the school’s kindergarten open house; also, information about kindergarten registration is available on the ACPS website. Families should use the Online Student Registration Form for the 2022-23 school year, available in four languages, to enroll their kindergarten student. The next step is to call the school or contact the school registrar to find out what time to visit and present all required documents for in-person verification to complete the registration process.
Families with kindergarten students in 2022-23 will want to save the date for Aug. 19, 2022, when ACPS will host a half-day of orientation called “Step Up to Kindergarten” for incoming kindergarten students. This introduction to the school experience before the official start of the school year helps incoming kindergarten students become familiar with their schools, classrooms and teachers so they can feel more comfortable on the first day of school.
