As we head into winter break, ACPS would like to remind everyone of the critical health and safety measures needed to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Here are some tips on health and safety from the ACPS Department of Student Services and Equity:

  • Follow CDC travel precautions over break.
    • Wear a mask indoors during travel
    • Consider making an appointment at in Alexandria for free COVID-19 testing following your return from travel.
    • Consider getting vaccinated or receiving a booster if eligible.
  • Have a care plan in place if your student has to stay home for any reason on short notice.
  • Make sure your student is bringing home their device, charger, and instructional materials daily.
  • Check your email and answer calls over winter break. ACPS will continue to notify close contacts of COVID-19 cases in ACPS facilities over the winter break. Because people may be traveling, notice may come through an email or a phone call.

The Alexandria Health Department will offer COVID-19 vaccines at Alexandria City High School (3330 King St) on Sat., Dec. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will offer all doses of Pfizer vaccine for ages 5 and older, including the booster, as well as Moderna third doses and boosters.
