Take the Survey and Help Define the Future High School Experience

Last month, ACPS launched what might become one of our biggest capital improvement projects ever, exploring a redefined high school experience for future generations of Alexandria students.

The High School Project: Inspiring a Future for Alexandria aims not only to resolve the issues around growing student enrollment and space at the high school, but it will also attempt to redefine the high school experience for future generations of Alexandrians, thereby delivering a future for Alexandria.

As student enrollment continues to increase, ACPS is aware that we need to resolve the capacity issues at the high school level in order to continue to be able to offer a high-quality education for every student who walks through our doors.

Rather than simply looking at buildings, space and land acquisitions, we are choosing to see this as an opportunity to assess the skills that our students will need to be successful in the future. We want to focus on which programs to offer in order to fulfill those needs in the long-run.

The innovative approach starts by assessing the skills that our students will need to be successful in the workforce of the future, and anticipating the business needs in Alexandria, the D.C. metro area and beyond. This project will potentially create programming aligned with those skill sets and workforce needs. You can read more about the project on the ACPS website.

Recently, students participated in focus groups and here’s what they had to say:

Whether you are a student, parent or guardian of a student, a community member, business owner organization leader or community partner, we want to hear from you!

Here is how you can share your ideas, vision and input:

We are very excited about the opportunities this project presents, not just for ACPS, but for our city.

Thank you for taking the survey and getting involved!
