Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) hosted the first annual State of the Schools event on March 1, 2022 with Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. who shared updates on the school division’s work to fulfill goals of the ACPS 2025 Equity For All Strategic Plan and the 2021-22 Areas of Focus.

As part of the Identity Project, Matthew Maury Elementary School was renamed Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School on July 1, 2021.

“Time to Shine” is the 2022 theme for National School Social Work Week, March 6-12. The School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA) selected the theme as it celebrates how school social workers shine bright for students, families and school communities.

Well-nourished students are better prepared to learn, a belief at the heart of National Nutrition Month. This annual campaign in March, created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, invites everyone to learn more about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits that last all year long.

ACPS has updated the 2021-22 online health and safety guidelines with new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to masking guidance in our schools, facilities and buses.
