New Members Inducted to the ACPS School Board

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) welcomed new members to the Alexandria City School Board during a virtual induction ceremony on Jan. 4, 2022. The nine 2022-25 School Board members were elected in November 2021 and were sworn in to assume their responsibilities to adopt policy for the daily operation of schools and ensure that school laws are properly explained, enforced, and observed.

January Partner & Volunteer Highlight: PTAC

The PTA Council (PTAC) represents the PTAs of ACPS schools and is a valued partner in our school division. The parent-teacher organization works with the superintendent and School Board members in serving ACPS students and families. The school PTAs that comprise PTAC are a way for ACPS families to get involved and help further students’ educational success.

FDA & CDC Approve Boosters for Ages 12-15

As part of a broader effort to expand protection against the COVID-19 virus, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized booster shots on Jan. 3, 2022 for the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for children aged 12 to 15.

ACHS Librarian Selected as 2022 AASL Emerging Leader

Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Librarian Laurel Taylor has been selected as one of two participants sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) in the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2022 Emerging Leaders program.
