Did you know that October is Bullying Awareness Prevention Month?

ACPS is shining a light on efforts to raise awareness about bullying and how we can all work together to prevent it.

The City of Alexandria is a key ally in this effort. Together we created this public service announcement to encourage those who are being bullied or who witness bullying to speak up.

ACPS investigates all reports of bullying and encourages students or parents/guardians of students who have been bullied or witnessed bullying to immediately report such incidents to the school principal or assistant principal.ACPS App

Instances of bullying can also be reported to ACPS via the ACPS mobile app tip line. Tips can be anonymous, however, providing as much information as possible will assist ACPS in investigating the instance of bullying.

ACPS offers a number of resources to raise awareness and support families, including:

The City of Alexandria is a Safe Place city that offers a network of locations where youth in crisis can get immediate help. It also offers a 24-hour hotline to report bullying or crisis events. To access immediate help and support for young people ages five through 18, call 703-746-5400. Learn about the Mayor’s campaign to end bullying.

Be an ally! Get to know these resources and share them with those who may need them.

Last week, students from Francis C. Hammond Middle School participated in Rachal’s Challenge and took the pledge to be kind. Some are featured in this public service announcement encouraging us to #BeKind.
