Board Matters: Budget Priorities, Colocation and The High School Project

On March 4 the School Board held a work session around the budget and the Joint Facilities Master Plan, including a discussion around colocation. On March 5, the Board was updated on the ideas that are emerging from the Educational Design Team for future programming at the high school.

On March 4 the School Board held a work session around the budget and the Joint Facilities Master Plan.

Budget

The School Board updated the City Council on how the budget process was different this year, how they set aligned priorities for the entire division and conducted an exercise to show how our budget priorities are aligned with the social, emotional and academic learning needs of our students.

Colocation and the Joint Facilities Master Plan

ACPS and the City of Alexandria are considering setting up a committee to study colocation options that could be considered as part of future school modernization projects.

The Board heard about the two lanes of work for the Connected High School Network; the key takeaways from the education experts and the visit to the Academies of Loudoun; the ideas emerging from the Educational Design Team regarding programming; the progress made on establishing Industry Advisory Boards; and the critical decisions needed to stay on track.
