The School Board has established a timeline for the Superintendent search. The timeline includes appointing an Interim Superintendent prior to Superintendent Crawley’s departure in late July. The Interim Superintendent will oversee the operations of the school division while the search for a permanent Superintendent takes place.
The School Board will hire a search firm to conduct the search for the new Superintendent. The permanent Superintendent is expected to be in place by the end of 2017. The search will involve input from the community regarding the qualities they would like to see in ACPS’ next leader.
The School Board has 180 days to appoint a new Superintendent from July 28, which is Dr. Crawley’s last day with ACPS.
May 2017: Search begins for an Interim Superintendent
May 2017: Procurement begins for a search firm to conduct the permanent Superintendent search
Mid-June: Search firm selected
Mid-June: Process begins for the Superintendent search, including the collection of community input
End of June: Interim Superintendent announced
End of July: Interim Superintendent transitions into role
Fall: Interview process begins for permanent Superintendent position
End of 2017: New Superintendent announced
