Eight ACPS Teachers Receive Highest Professional Teaching Honor

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is celebrating teachers who have newly achieved National Board Certification (NBCT) status or maintained it this year. NBCT is the most respected professional certification in education, designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers. Five ACPS teachers have been newly certified and three others have maintained their certification.

Newly Certified Teachers:

  • Andrea Heckel, Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School, Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early And Middle Childhood
  • Monica Pendergast-Paredes, Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology, Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early And Middle Childhood
  • Edgardo Rivera, Alexandria City High School, Exceptional Needs Specialist/Early Childhood Through Young Adulthood
