Hunter Langley

Male Athlete of the Year: Robert Longerbeam

Longerbeam looks for an open receiver.

Longerbeam, a corner and wide receiver turned quarterback dominated during last season. He was able to use his elite 4.38 second 40-yard dash speed to scramble all over the field to make plays. During his first five starts at quarterback the offense averaged over 30 points a game. He is also an elite track athlete who helped contribute to the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams qualifying for nationals at the first invitational of the year. In the St. James seven on seven football league, he led number one ranked T.C. to an undefeated 10-0 regular season–beating rivals Lake Braddock and West Potomac to get there.

Male Runner-Up: Ibrahim Bangura

Bangura crosses the finish line and qualifies for nationals.

When healthy, Bangura has been a force on the football field and a generational talent around the track. Unfortunately, this year the injury bug has kicked in and he has not been able to reach his full potential. Still, despite his hamstring injury, he has still been incredibly effective. During indoor track, he helped lead the 4 x 200 relay team to second place at the indoor track state championships. Bangura won the track state championship for the 100 meter sprint.

Palacio stares down a defender.

Palacio was an incredibly efficient player who averaged 17 points a game. She was able to knock down three pointers, dish out assists and take the ball to the paint on demand. Bates was a dominant force at shooting guard. The Concord University commit has a huge motor on the court and there was never a moment where she did not give 100 percent effort.

Female Runner-Up: Caroline Bates

Bates kicks the ball past a defender.

An unstoppable force at forward, Bates lead her team in goals. Her toughness and leadership is what helped drive the girls soccer team to a perfect 14-0 record. She was a mismatch for any girl trying to guard her.
