Most Anticipated Album of the Summer: LUV Is Rage 2 – Lil Uzi Vert

Although LUV Is Rage 2 is Lil Uzi Vert’s first studio album, the rapper has gained popularity through the five mixtapes he has released since 2013. LUV Is Rage 2, released on August 25, is the sequel to rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s 2015 mixtape, LUV Is Rage. Within one week of the album’s release, it has already reached number one on Billboard Hot 200. On LUV Is Rage 2, Lil Uzi remains true to his eccentric and rap-sung style while expressing his experiences with heartbreak. Notable songs from the album include “444+222,” “Neon Guts,” and “The Way Life Goes.”

Best Comeback Album of the Summer: Flower Boy – Tyler, The Creator

Ending his two year hiatus from music, Tyler, The Creator released his fourth studio album Flower Boy on July 21. The highly anticipated album, which Tyler produced himself, did not disappoint. Unlike Tyler’s earlier work, which has been characterized by his humorous and often irreverent lyrical style, Flower Boy feels more mature; the tranquil melodies of “Foreword,” “911 / Mr. Lonely,” and “See You Again” signify a change in his musical style. Overall, this is Tyler, The Creator’s best album to date.

Other Comeback Albums of the Summer:

Pretty Girls Like Trap Music – 2 Chainz

Everything Now – Arcade Fire

Freudian – Daniel Caesar

Painted Ruins – Grizzly Bear

Best Pop Song by a New Artist: “Young Dumb & Broke”- Khalid

Released on June 13 by R&B artist Khalid, “Young Dumb & Broke” is rhythmic and appealing to a high schooler’s core. The song is the second single from Khalid’s debut studio album, American Teen.

Other Songs from New Artists: “Love Galore” – SZA
