Help ACPS Meet the Needs of Our Families

The bus drivers and monitors from the ACPS Department of Transportation are hosting a Coat, Backpack and Food Drive for students in need on Saturday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drive will take place at the ACPS Transportation Department building at 3540 Wheeler Avenue, Alexandria.

This will be a fun-filled event with music, entertainment and refreshments. All ages are welcome!

We are looking for donations of:

  • backpacks (new, like new or gently used and laundered)
  • winter coats and jackets (new, like new or gently used and laundered)
  • hats, gloves and mittens (new, like new or gently used and laundered)
  • unexpired, nonperishable food items

Food donation collection for Blessings in a Backpack programThank you to our volunteers from Matthew Maury Elementary School, Mayor Allison Silberberg and Principal Victor Powell who recently collected donations for National Blessings in a Backpack Day. The program sends food home with students in need over the weekend.
