Celebrating the Week of the Young Child, April 2-8, coincides with Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) getting prepared for the incoming Kindergarten students who will enroll for the 2022-23 school year. We welcome our soon-to-be incoming kindergarteners who are excited and ready to experience the joy of learning with fellow students in a classroom setting.
Kindergarten registration for the 2022-23 school year will begin on April 20, 2022. Families can prepare for the registration process by checking that their child meets age requirements and gathering the required documents. You can also use the Attendance Zone Locator to find your school zone.
ACPS schools are hosting virtual kindergarten open houses so families can learn more about their school. Visit the website for your school for details about the school’s kindergarten open house; also, information about kindergarten registration is available on the ACPS website.
In addition, ACPS will host a half-day of orientation on Aug. 19, 2022, called “Step Up to Kindergarten,” for incoming kindergarten students. This introduction to the school experience before the official start of the school year helps incoming kindergarten students become familiar with their schools, classrooms and teachers so they can feel more comfortable on the first day of school.
