Celebrating the Official Opening of the Renovated Hammond Hockey Rink

Students were handed free hockey sticks and benefited from a skills clinic hosted by the Washington Capitals on Wednesday at the official opening of the renovated street hockey rink at Francis C. Hammond Middle School.

The outdoor facility’s facelift was made possible by a $200,000 donation from the Capitals.

At the event around fifty Hammond students joined ACPS Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. and Slapshot, the official mascot of the 2018 Stanley Cup winners. Players from the T.C. Williams Ice Hockey Team also came by to support their sport.
