Alexandria City Opens Summer Camp Registration

R-LC-MK-SOS_BR_cvrRegistration for 2016 City of Alexandria Summer Camps offered by the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will begin 3 weeks early this year to allow families more time for summer planning.

Registration for summer camps will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24 for Alexandria residents and on Friday, February 26 for nonresidents. Participants my Register online or in-person at the Lee Center Registration & Reservation Office, 1108 Jefferson St.

The 2016 Summer of Smiles Summer Camps Guide is now available online and free printed brochures are available at City Hall, recreation centers, and public libraries located throughout the City. The Summer of Smiles Summer Camps Guide contains a variety of camps available to youth ages 2-17, including sports, dance, creative arts, computer, chess, enrichment, nature, adventure, Out of School Time (residents only) and classic camps. To make summer planning even easier, a Summer Fun Finder index lists camps available by week offered and age group.

Registration is open now for Spring Break Camps taking place March 21-25 when Alexandria City Public schools are closed. For more information about spring or summer camps, please contact the Registration & Reservation Office at 703.746.5414, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Make A Splash: City of Alexandria Presents Family Fun Nights for All Ages

Bring the whole family to Family Fun Nights for swimming and fun for all ages on Friday evenings at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility, 3210 King St. Pool games include beach ball relays, water basketball, and fun on the ‘Aqua Challenge’ floating obstacle course. Participate in swimming skill assessments for youth, register for Aquatics programs and meet and learn about animals who live at Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center. Each event features a different ACPS school but all are welcome to attend. Cost of admission to each event is $4 per person.
