Gearing up for Back-to-School Night!

This week most elementary schools will hold their Back-to-School Night events. Secondary schools will hold Back-to-School Nights the week of September 24. Don’t miss yours! See the full list of schools and dates below.

Making the Most of Back-to-School Night

Back-to-School Night is a great time to learn about your child’s classroom and school experience, meet teachers and administrators and learn what you can expect for your child in the year ahead. Here are a few tips and reminders to help you make the most of it:

  • Every school and even some grade levels within a school do Back-to-School Night differently. Connect with your school to find out what you can expect.
  • Know what questions you want to ask in advance, but keep them general – such as homework and discipline policies, vs questions specific to your particular situation.
  • If you have more than one child in the same school, map a plan in advance for how you’ll navigate each.
  • Connect with your school’s PTA and find out how you can get involved.
  • Consider signing up for volunteer opportunities at your child’s school and be sure to complete a volunteer application in advance of volunteering.
