Shortened Student Quarantine Period with Negative PCR Test

With the support of the School Board, ACPS is shortening the length of quarantine for close contacts to seven days after the date of last exposure if families provide documentation to the school of a negative COVID PCR test that is administered on day five, six, or seven.

ACPS Introduces New Electric Buses to Transportation Fleet

ACPS is celebrating the rollout of five new electric school buses to join its 118-vehicle fleet. The electric buses were purchased by ACPS with the assistance of the Dominion Energy Electric School Bus Program. ACPS purchased five of the 50 buses that were part of this program.

The school division is fortunate to have 10 school-based parent liaisons and three division-wide parent liaisons, specializing in Spanish, Amharic and Arabic.

National Substitute Educators Day

ACPS salutes our substitute teachers as we celebrate National Substitute Educators Day today (Nov. 19). Substitute teachers continue to provide quality education to students in the temporary absence of their classroom teacher. They are flexible, resilient and dedicated as they provide continuation in a child’s education.

ACPS is proud to announce the first recipients of the VIP Award for employees who stand out for their Vision, Integrity and Passion. The winners were selected from the October nomination category focusing on Transportation, Nutrition Services and Building Engineers.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

On Nov. 17, ACPS is celebrating the brave action of one historical figure during the first national Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Students across the country will walk to honor the young student who played a part in the advancement of civil rights. 

New Multi-use Court Opens at Francis C. Hammond Middle School

A new multi-use/futsal court opened at Francis C. Hammond Middle School that will be used in physical education and after school programs. The court’s multi-use approach will increase teaching and activity space. The court will also be available to the community after school hours.
