Use Alternative Forms of Transportation to Commute and Save

- Opportunities

Did you know that you may be able to receive a $45 monthly subsidy in transportation benefits?

The City of Alexandria provides a variety of incentive programs to encourage employees to walk, bike, vanpool, carpool or take transit to work. But it’s not just about the dollars and cents. Walking or biking is a great way to squeeze in a little exercise in an otherwise busy schedule. Many great relationships have developed through car and van pools. And public transportation offers and a chance to take your hands off the wheel and enjoy a good book, read the paper or people watch. All are great ways to avoid the stress of a grinding commute and add a potential boost to your day.

It’s all in keeping with our ACPS 2020 staff health and wellness goal and our employee health and wellness program, Finding Fit. Healthy staff members serve as role models for our students and help to foster a culture of health and wellness and a beneficial learning environment. Finding Fit provides resources and support to help employees live healthy and active lifestyles.
