Understand the Changes to Your Next Paycheck

- News and Announcements

Things may look a little different when you open your paycheck on October 15.

What is new about it?

The format has changed to accommodate the display of more details (earnings, deductions and descriptions).

What do I need to know as a staff member reading my new payslip?

Nothing has changed other than the details and format.

Is it going to be like this electronically, too?

Yes, the change applies to all payslip versions: electronic for those receiving their paycheck in electronic format by email; on paper for those receiving it by mail; and on the payslips available to all employees in Employee Self Service (ESS).

It takes place October 15, right?

Yes, the changes take effect on October 15, 2019.

Why are we changing it? What are we making better?

  • To display more details: earnings, deductions and descriptions. The new format displays details which are not available in the old format.
  • Employees often call the payroll department for explanation and clarifications of items on their paycheck. These questions will be answered by the level of detail on the new paycheck format.
  • Easier to read, and more clarity. For example, the attached paychecks are the same — that is, for the same employee, same check number, same amount and same date. However, the new format displays more details and is self-explanatory.
