This week’s highlighted courses:

Charts-on-the-Go and Writing Toolkits: Grammar and Conventions Made Easy in Grades K-5
How can teachers make grammar instruction “stick”? How can I teach grammar without a workbook? If the grammar and conventions in your students’ writing makes you cringe, but you have no idea where or how to start instruction, this workshop is for you!

Participants will learn about grammar development and evidence-based best practices for grammar and conventions instruction from ACPS Writing Teacher Leaders for grades 3 – 5. Presenters will share examples of how they used charts-on-the-go and conferring toolkits to teach their students to transfer key grammar skills to their independent writing. The session will end with participants engaging in a “Make & Take” time to create teaching charts for grammar. By the end of the session, all participants will have several fully-developed charts-on-the-go and be able to explain how to use the charts to support students in transferring skills to other contexts. Previous participants in this course have described this workshop one of the most practical workshops they had ever attended!

Participants should bring their ACPS laptops and the following two books from their Writing Units of Study Kit: “Writing Pathways” and “If…Then Curriculum.” #14393

Making the Most of Child Interactions (MMCI)
In this course, participants will receive in-person training to help identify, understand and apply stronger CLASS interactions in your classroom. #14719

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Participant will be trained and certificated in Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. #12673
