Good news! ACPS has a new and improved way for staff to learn CPR and meet the state teacher licensing requirement for CPR education with hands-on training.

The training is offered as a hybrid course, with part of the training delivered online and part in-person and covers CPR, first aid and automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

Participants must first complete the online component before taking the hands-on portion. The online course can be taken any time, anywhere and on any internet-capable device. It is available to ACPS employees at a discounted rate of $12.07, which is payable by the employee when signing up. The fee for a comparable course offered through an external organization, such as the Red Cross, would cost $93 – $120.

The online component should take about two and a half hours to complete, though participants can work at their own pace.

The in-person component will be offered at various school locations after school and at Central Office throughout this school year.

The first hands-on training will take place at Charles Barrett Elementary School on Thursday, December 7 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Staff can sign up for this and for future dates as they become available through our professional learning system. There is no fee for the hands-on training.

Before taking the hands-on training, participants will need to provide the invoice number and certificate of completion as verification that they have successfully completed the online training. Please plan accordingly so that there is enough time to complete the online training before the hands-on training date and before your license is due to expire.

This training is available to all staff and is a requirement for licensed staff and for those working in areas where CPR is a requirement for their job.
