- Kudos to Staff

ACPS Communications Specialist Delania McCormack has been named one of the Top 35 Under 35 in school public relations across the United States.

The award recognizes young professionals who are true leaders in their field and who make a genuine difference to the world of school communications. The highly coveted award, given by the National School Public Relations Association is based on the the understanding and implementation of best practices in electronic media and school communications.

“This award demonstrates Delaina’s commitment to ensuring communication practices in ACPS are dynamic, forward thinking and the best they can possibly be. We are extremely proud to have such a high-performer in our communications team,” said ACPS Director of Communications Helen Lloyd.

McCormack has been with ACPS for the past three and a half years and plays a critical role in the digital strategy and day-to-day running of the Office of Communications.

With a background in graphic design McCormack oversees the design of major print and digital publications for the district, including handbooks, fliers, forms, email newsletters, digital graphics, and web pages. Her work often involves project development and execution, including research, writing, editing, procurement, printing, pulling of student data, logistics and distribution.

McCormack also leads and trains district colleagues in digital communication efforts, including social media, email newsletters, and a new website. She also contributes to emergency communications, photography and events.

A self-described, unabashed geek McCormack is always happy to step in when technology is involved.

“For every piece of communication, I try to put myself in the shoes of our customers, and I advise others to do the same. And, I often look for better, more efficient ways to do things, even if it means the work will be more difficult up front. I look to solve problems so that the district’s staff, students and families are better for it,” said McCormack.

Prior to joining ACPS, McCormack served as an e-marketing specialist for an Audio Visual association, designing and coding mobile-friendly email campaigns and earning certification in email messaging and as a graphics specialist for Tempe Union High School District in Arizona.

McCormack was also part of the communications team that won a Golden Achievement award for the launch of the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan in June 2016.
