- Professional Development

Real World Learning helps students build academic skills by recognizing a problem within their school, community or the world, and learning how to solve it. By building a collaborative network, educators can weave 21st century skills and civic action into their academic content.

Want to learn more? CivicTREK can help teachers in grades K-12 develop student-centered, authentic, and relevant learning experiences that empower students to solve real-world problems in their communities. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the principles of project-based service learning, how it connects to the ACPS mission and curriculum goals, and how to implement it in your classroom.

You’ll also receive additional learning and personalized coaching and support as you implement a service learning experience with your students. Learn how to develop an understanding of project-based learning and the service learning cycle; align academic goals and outcomes to service learning; evaluate and reflect on service learning outcomes; and contribute to a cohort of colleagues engaged in reflective practice to improve student engagement and achievement. By completing the cohort, you’ll earn 60 re-certification points.

Don’t miss out! The first workshop starts August 14, 2019.
