2018 Procurement Award

ACPS has become one of only 26 school divisions in the United States and Canada to be officially recognized for fiscal responsibility in its procurement processes.

ACPS has been awarded the Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI), which recognizes organizational excellence in procurement. This is the third consecutive year that ACPS has earned the award, setting it above other school divisions when it comes to ensuring compliance when procuring outside services.

“It is a real accomplishment to be one of just a handful of school divisions across the United States to receive this award. It reflects our steadfast commitment to ensuring that when ACPS uses taxpayer funds to purchase goods and services, we do so in ways that are fiscally responsible, transparent and in line with best practices and regulations. This award acknowledges and celebrates the hard work and dedication of our procurement team. And these efforts enable us to better support our students, our teachers and our schools,” said Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., superintendent of schools.

The award demonstrates that we understand the importance of our role in protecting Alexandria’s financial investment in its children and work hard to maintain credibility and integrity. We run the school division as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible and use a system of checks and balances to make sure that it is on the right track.

ACPS holds itself to a very high standard concerning the use of taxpayer funds. We do our best to maximize resources and compete our dollars to get the best prices and best quality on behalf of the school division and the entire community. And, ACPS sticks to industry best practices in managing tax-payer dollars while providing exceptional service for our staff and vendor community.
