Although, the hosts of the show alternate every five weeks and it is hard for viewers to get to know the students that make the show a success. Discover what it is like to be the host of TMA and get to know Alexandria City High School\u2019s very own TV personalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gryphon Magnus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore, Gryphon Magnus was TMA\u2019s longest-running host this school year, hosting for seven weeks alongside Lucy Savarie and Evan Bellanca. Magnus loves the TV\/Media class offered at ACHS because it, \u201cAllows me to reach as many people as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI think it\u2019s really wonderful. I\u2019ve always loved filmmaking and performing so I\u2019m doing a little mix of that and on school-sponsored time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the jobs of hosting TMA is creating the scripts for the days\u2019 show. \u201cI love creating the script. I was allowed to have the freedom to write jokes and funny announcements,\u201d says Magnus. He emphasized that a good TMA host is charismatic and is able to engage the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magnus\u2019s energetic and comical personality made him a popular host on TMA even warranting him a dramatic \u201cdeath\u201d scene at the end of his time hosting the show. Magnus describes his thought process behind the stunt saying, \u201cI [thought] it would be funny and fitting [if] I could write myself a little dramatic death scene. Now that I am not in creative control, there\u2019s this lore about the hosts going missing.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former <em>and <\/em>future host Nora Read describes his \u201cpassing\u201d as <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Incredibly sudden and just horrible but also a little puzzling.\u201d<br>Magnus\u2019s former co-host Evan Bellanca says, \u201cGryphon&#8217;s death was tragic and it came out of nowhere. It caused outrage within the school building. Griffin was a great host and I don\u2019t think the show will be the same without him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mystery of his death continues as a running joke amongst the current hosts and includes briefly mentioning topics like time theories and lore, referencing Gryphon\u2019s \u201cdeath\u201d during the show.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After his tragic \u201cdeath\u201d, marking the end of his career as host\u201d, Magnus is now the shows\u2019 producer and after the next host cycle ends in 5 weeks, he is hoping to fill the role of cameraman. His words of wisdom to anyone considering taking the TV\/Media class, \u201cI will be honest, it\u2019s a lot of work.\u201d Magnus has a \u201cgenuine passion for filmmaking\u201d so he does not mind the work but that is something to keep in mind when signing up for the class. He continues by saying, \u201c[It\u2019s] one of the most communal experiences you can get. Photo credits, Gryphon Magnus.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lucy Savarie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore, Lucy Savarie, a sassy and sarcastic character, hosted TMA for 5 weeks alongside Magnus. Savarie enjoys the excitement of hosting the show, \u201cYou get to talk to the camera, sit in the [hosts\u2019] chair, and see everything that\u2019s happening around you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Savarie emphasized the importance of a host-host relationship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe chemistry between the two people is really important. Most of the hosts develop their chemistry over the course of their rotation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Savarie\u2019s last week hosting the show, the school was canceled due to inclement weather so she never got the last show or grande finale like her co-host Gryphon. She is a little bit \u201csalty\u201d saying, \u201cMy personal opinion is I should have gotten the last show.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Savarie emphasizes \u201cchemistry\u201d between hosts. Over the course of her rotation, she was able to develop that type of chemistry with Gryphon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evan Bellanca, former host and student in TV\/Media, says that \u201c[their]<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>personalities offset each other\u201d. \u201cLucy was very lowkey and more negative and Gryphon was more positive.\u201d According to Bellanca, this is what made them good hosts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Savarie is not hosting TMA, she works as the graphics operator for the show. She likes that there are a variety of components that go into making the show like cameramen, directors, technical directors, floor directors, audio, and graphics directors. Photo by Lucy Savarie.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evan Bellanca<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior, Evan Bellanca hosted TMA with Gryphon Magnus and Romeo Quini for a total of 5 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being entertaining on camera, the spotlight is not for him. Bellanca prefers to work behind the scenes as a cameraman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt gives you another, very creative outlook. You are in charge of how other people actually view the show.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bellanca says that the best hosts have \u201cpersonalities that offset each other.\u201d \u201cFor example, Lucy and Gryphon. He also thinks that good hosts have a positive work ethic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bellanca encourages students to take TV\/Media. He describes it as the highlight of his day. \u201cIt is a great, amazing class. Photo creds, Evan Bellanca.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cooper Larrick-Greenwood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore, Cooper Larrick-Greenwood is the current host of TMA alongside Romeo Quini. This is Larrick-Greenwood&#8217;s first time in front of a camera and he describes the beginning of his time on the show as awkward saying, \u201cAt first it was very awkward. You have to make your character true to yourself.\u201d Part of Larrick-Greenwoods\u2019 character is to awkwardly try and befriend his co-host Quini.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[I love] the chemistry with the other hosts, you get to mess around but at the same time it\u2019s still serious.\u201d, he says when asked about his favorite part of hosting TMA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Larrick-Greenwood, a good host is, \u201cSomeone with good energy and someone that other people can be entertained by (but in a good way, not at their expense).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His advice to people considering taking the class, be prepared. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of stuff you have to pay attention to,\u201d he says. \u201cWhen you actually put in the effort, it&#8217;s a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" data-id=\"1702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/theogony\/2021-2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/cooper.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1702\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/theogony\/2021-2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/cooper.png 750w, https:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/theogony\/2021-2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/cooper-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption>Sophomore and former host Cooper Larrick-Greenwood. Photo creds, Cooper Larrick-Greenwood.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nora Read<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore Nora Read hosted TMA for 5 and a half weeks on and off with Ben Delnegro and will be making a comeback, hosting the show again on Blue Days. \u201cIt [hosting TMA] was a step out of my comfort zone,\u201d Read says, \u201cbut after the first couple of shows, I started to really enjoy myself.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show helped Read connect with her \u201cTitan community\u201d. \u201cBeing so educated on the club&#8217;s events, and essentially everything that is going on at AC is my favorite part about hosting.\u201d, she says. \u201cIt\u2019s fun to be able to connect with the students who have seen the show and want to chat about recent event coverage or topics we\u2019ve talked about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Read, a good host is personable and \u201cchannels Titan pride.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s important to be able to have fun and be comfortable with your co-host.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She describes Gryphon&#8217;s death as \u201cincredibly sudden\u201d and \u201cjust horrible\u201d. But Read is also puzzled by the conundrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read emphasizes that there is more to the TMA show than being a host. \u201cThere is so much work that goes on behind the scenes like camerawork, audio, graphics, and so much more. Photo creds, Nora Read.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Delvin Reed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior, Delvin Reed also hosted for TMA and describes being a host as \u201cvery stressful\u201d but, \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of fun to shoot it [the show]. [There\u2019s] a lot of laughing going on.\u201d<br>To Reed, a good host is someone who is charismatic and fun. He says a good example of this is former host, senior, Nick Cam.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reed says that if you\u2019re considering taking TV\/Media, \u201cTake it. It&#8217;s a really great thing. The hosts were asked who they want to see hosting the next cycle of TMA. Evan Bellanca nominates Ronaldo Diaz-Paz, \u201cHe\u2019s got a funny personality.\u201d and Zeebeedee Tucker. \u201cEverybody loves that guy and he\u2019s a fun face to see in the hallway.\u201d Gryphon Magnus thinks Mia Mervis would do a great job. He also suggests Ronaldo Diaz-Paz and Aidan Shaw because \u201cI think it would be a funny transition to go from director to host.\u201d Lucy Savarie recommends Hadia Hamnawa, \u201cI think she\u2019d have a really good hosting personality.\u201d Cooper Larrick-Greenwood hoped to see Kimberly Chavez as the next host, \u201cWe get well and the chemistry would just be silly,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larrick-Greenwood\u2019s wish was granted and they now co-host the show together. Nora Read says \u201cGryphon\u2019s ghost\u201d should be the next TMA host.
