This distinction results from Waldhoff&#8217;s performance on the PSAT test, administered in eleventh grade. 50,000 of the 1.5 million test takers qualified for initial recognition. Around 2\/3 of those students received Letters of Commendation while the other third qualified as Semifinalists.<\/p>\n<p>After students qualify for the Semifinalist round, they submit a National Merit Scholarship application. Of the 16,000 Semifinalists, 15,000 advance as Finalists. Waldhoff is the only T.C. student to qualify as a Finalist.
