Writes! Essay Contest Open Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Optimist Club of Alexandria and the T.C. English Department are sponsoring an essay contest for all sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with a grand prize of $500 and prizes of $300 and $200 for the second and third place winners, respectively. Runners-up can win gift cards.<\/p>\n<p>The essays must be between 700 and 800 words and address the topic, &#8220;Can Society Function Without Respect?&#8221; Participants should submit their final essays to Mark Eaton in room A202 of the King Street campus by Monday, February 19, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists of the competition will be invited to a luncheon hosted by the Optimist Club at Bellehaven Country Club on Wednesday, February 28, where prizes will be given to certain authors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Optimist Club of Alexandria and the T.C.
