Apply for the National Board Certification (NBCT) Cohort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The process to select our next cohort of National Board Certification Teacher candidates is underway. If you have been thinking about becoming National Board certified, now is the time to act. Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. on May 18.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>What is National Board Certification<\/b>?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">National Board Certification is the teaching profession\u2019s highest honor. The certification process identifies accomplished<b> <\/b>teachers through a rigorous program that includes four components: one exam and three portfolio submissions. Through NBCT dedicated teachers demonstrate their commitment to teaching and maintaining the industry\u2019s highest standards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Why become certified?<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">National Board Certification:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Improves student achievement and learning<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Provides an opportunity for teachers to grow and be challenged<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Recognizes accomplished teachers<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Can lead to increased salary and leadership opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>How does it work?<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ACPS supports a two-year submission time frame during which teachers participate in monthly meetings, are part of a professional learning community and receive support on the technical aspects of the process. ACPS also funds most of the $2,050 cost for the majority for selected candidates<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>What\u2019s the time frame?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">May 18 \u2013 Applications must be received by 5 p.m.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">June 1 \u2013 Candidates will be notified of their status<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">June 9 \u2013 Accepted candidates attend a NBCT jumpstart meeting\u2014mandatory for candidates receiving funding through ACPS<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Summer 2018 \u2013 Work begins with the completion of first cohort assignment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>I\u2019m interested!
