The course takes a closer look at FLE materials and resources and includes strategies to build participant confidence and knowledge in delivering this sensitive, but meaningful, content. It is taught by the Human Growth and Development Department Chair, Stephanie Ghent, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.\u00a0<strong>#14239\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching Across Cultures &#8211; Reaching and Teaching Black and Brown Students<\/strong><br \/>\nTo what extent can instructional strategies help close the achievement gaps? What might be the connection between using researched-based strategies on students of color and said students&#8217; academic and social-emotional safety in learning environments?\u00a0 Join us for the third section in the Teaching Across Cultures Series, where Madeline Hafner, executive director of the Minority Student Achievement Network (MSAN) will lead a highly interactive session covering four research-based strategies proven to be effective with students of color. Each strategy can be used immediately to foster student success. Learner Outcomes Participants will be introduced to strategies that enhance student engagement and knowledge acquisition.\u00a0<strong>#14757<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Equity Conversations for Administrators<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Department of Student Services, Alternative Programs and Equity is offering Equity Conversations for Administrators. The sessions are designed for staff who attended the August Leadership Academy. Each session will be ninety minutes long and will focus on topics that prepare participants to design and support opportunities for staff, students and the community using an equity-focused lens.
