You can also visit the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/570\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School Board meeting web page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for information on how to view meetings live and participate.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"sign-up-to-volunteer:-2022-ale\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sign Up to Volunteer: 2022 Alexandria City High School Science Fair<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ACPS invites members of our staff and community to volunteer at the 2022 Alexandria City Science Fair, held on Thurs., Jan. 20, 2022 at Alexandria City High School (ACHS). <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1UuiOf6HpZzVqGjQ82A7yl3MrsP7riQWa\/view\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The science fair<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides the opportunity to see a diverse group of young people in grades 7-12 showcase their work. This includes students who are novice researchers as well as those who are experienced science fair participants. Students have often said their interaction with the judges is the most memorable and inspiring part of the science fair process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The schedule of events begins at 5 p.m. with judges\u2019 registration, dinner and orientation before projects are judged between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.; then, a work session for judges and award recommendations take place on a rolling basis as judges finish between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are available to serve as a judge, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSd7UjgkPmmg7Rjw-bLdLsB_n6OH38uisa8qg4-nRsekAeacHw\/viewform\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">please register online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the science fair being an in-person event, the following COVID-19 protocols will be in place:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Masks must be worn at all times by all students and adults; please bring your own mask.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Judges will be asked to complete the online health screener the day of the event. An email will be sent to you the morning of the fair requiring you to complete a quick google form. You cannot enter the building without the completion of this form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All judges must enter the building through doors 35 and 36 where their temperature will be taken.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Judges are asked to bring their own device (smartphone, tablet, iPhone, etc) to connect to our Wifi and complete the judging documents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fair will occur over a larger portion of the building so students and judges can spread out. We will provide color-coded maps to all judges and there will be volunteers at the fair to help point you in the right direction. Judges will meet in the library for a quick dinner and orientation before judging begins.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 id=\"technology-helps-to-reduce-loc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technology Helps to Reduce Local Spread<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Alexandria Health Department (AHD), along with hundreds of other local health departments uses a tool called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/saraalert.org\/how-sara-alert-works\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara Alert&#x2122;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed in early 2020 to support contact tracing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This system enrolls individuals exposed to or infected with COVID-19, which helps AHD to provide guidance about when it is safe to discontinue isolation or quarantine. Once enrolled, individuals enter their symptoms daily via email, text or phone call, providing public health professionals real-time insights into disease spread and allowing AHD staff to quickly follow up with Alexandrians to ensure that they have all of the needed resources.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neither the Sara Alert system nor AHD contact tracers will ever ask individuals for social security numbers, bank account or credit card information, passwords or answers to security questions. Sara Alert will only contact enrolled individuals from 844-957-2721 or <\/span><a href=\"mailto:notifications@saraalert.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">notifications@saraalert.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
