{"id":13145,"date":"2019-05-05T20:00:51","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T00:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=13145"},"modified":"2019-05-05T21:41:55","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T01:41:55","slug":"help-our-teachers-feel-the-love-during-teacher-appreciation-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=13145","title":{"rendered":"Help Our Teachers Feel the Love During Teacher Appreciation Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monday, May 6 marks the start of Teacher Appreciation Week, that special time of year dedicated to showing teachers just how much they are valued by our school community for their great work throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week, along with our ACPS partners, we will be celebrating our teachers by providing lunches, helping them pay for membership to professional organizations, providing pampering sessions and giving them a special shout-out on social media. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a terrific time to recognize teachers for the important role they play in the lives of our children and thank them for the difference they make in our lives. Here are some other fun ways to show your appreciation:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have your child hand write a letter or draw a picture expressing thanks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write a letter to your child\u2019s teachers about the impact they have had on your child<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteer in your child\u2019s classroom or do a task that you can complete at home<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell us on social media what makes your teachers special. Tag <strong>@ACPSk12<\/strong> and use the hashtags <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>#TeachACPS<\/strong> and <strong>#ThankATeacher<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give a bouquet of flowers to brighten their day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell a teacher \u2018thank you\u2019 in person<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However you choose to do it, make a special point this week to thank your teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/acps2020\">ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan<\/a> outlines a specific goal that calls for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/1664\">exemplary staff<\/a>. ACPS pledges to recruit, develop, support and retain a staff that meets the needs of every student.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>See our T.C.
