This includes looking at potential program and partnership opportunities and possible places to locate these programming options.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just as our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=12124\">&#8217;71 Titans<\/a> led the way forward, students who now dream of a new high school experience are once again moving Alexandria into tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/321846835?title=0&amp;amp;byline=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central to every decision being made regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/hsproject\">The High School Project<\/a> is ensuring that all students have equitable opportunities. Students have asked for more choices, more opportunities to learn critical-thinking skills, exposure to careers, the chance to work in local businesses and to study what they are most interested in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the coming months, education experts will be developing rich, rigorous programs that offer students a way to study what they are passionate about. ACPS is already building partnerships with higher education institutions, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=11234\">Virginia Tech<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=12393\">Northern Virginia Community College<\/a>, and with local businesses. In order to expand offerings, ACPS will need to look at possible building sites around the city. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equity continues to be a key part of every decision we make as we move toward a new high school experience. In order to embrace a future that is equitable for all, we also need to own our past and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=11802\">know where we have come from<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reinventing the Titans means remembering those <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=12150\">students who crossed the barriers of race<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=11966\">desegregate the sports fields<\/a> and hallways of Alexandria\u2019s schools. It also means being honest about the groups of students we aren\u2019t serving well today and using this opportunity to make a change for all students\u2019 futures.
