Titans Dominate Patriot District Opener: 64-35

December 17, 2009 by Alexander Goldfarb

T.C.- The only suspense in T.C.’s matchup with West Springfield on December 11th was whether the Spartans would score in the first quarter. The Titans cruised to a 64-35 victory over West Springfield behind seniors Bill Rowland’s 17 points and Ryan Yates’ 13.

The first quarter gave the crowd at The Garden a lot to cheer about, with the Titans stifling defense holding West Springfield scoreless for most of the period. With the score 19-1, the second period featured most of T.C.’s reserves getting a chance to play significant minutes. Junior Rick Matthews was impressive inside, tallying 7 points and dominating the paint.

Junior Lawrence Rouse continued his hot play for the Spartans, contributing 17 points. However, the Spartans could not compete athletically with T.C. and gave up a height advantage at nearly every position. With the Titans quickness on defense, the Spartans were playing catch-up from the tip-off.

The Titans continue their district schedule Friday night at 7:45 at Annandale and will play in the Parker Gray Classic Saturday at 8:00 in the Garden.
