The middle school years are the most critical time for our young people. Most educators recognize the physical, emotional, and intellectual change that occurs in students from sixth to eighth grade. We see young people who now are more curious, take more risks, and yearn for more independence. To prepare middle school learners for our global society, we must provide an education that is developmentally responsive, challenging, empowering, and equitable.
