These assessments in reading and math were developed to support student learning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These online, computer-adaptive growth assessments are shorter than a traditional Standards of Learning (SOL) test and will be based on the previous grade level\u2019s standards. These educational assessments also help identify what students have already learned, as well as the skills they may need additional support to begin the school year. While the growth assessments will not report a performance level showing whether the student passed or failed, the parent report will indicate how the student performed on each of the academic skills included on the test.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The assessment period for Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School students is September 14 through October 1. Students in traditional calendar schools will be assessed September 28 through October 15. Students enrolled in high school credit-bearing courses will not take the VDOE mathematics growth assessment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents and guardians can help their children by ensuring they get plenty of rest, a good breakfast, comfortable clothing, and regular attendance during the testing period to help your child feel more alert and confident. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New growth assessments for students in grades 3-8, developed by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), will be administered for the first time in the fall of 2021.
