The certification process identifies accomplished teachers through a rigorous program that includes four components: one exam and three portfolio submissions. Through NBCT, dedicated teachers demonstrate their commitment to teaching and maintaining the industry\u2019s highest standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The benefits of National Board Certification include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improves student achievement and learning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provides an opportunity for teachers to grow and challenge yourself<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognizes accomplished teachers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can lead to increased salary and leadership opportunities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn more about the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbpts.org\/national-board-certification\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Board Certification process<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be eligible for certification, applicants must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hold a bachelor\u2019s degree from a regionally accredited institution<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have at least three FULL years of teaching experience by the end of the 2020-21 school year<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hold a valid teaching license<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ACPS supports a two-year submission timeframe during which teachers participate in monthly meetings, are part of a professional learning community, and receive support on the technical aspects of the process. ACPS also funds most of the $2,050 cost for the majority of selected candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is the time frame?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oct. 6: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdKq5GPYEQ3gEPV5ofBDeqHyKJGX1fQqfQAn__3ggkAupt5Zw\/viewform?usp=sf_link\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> must be received by 5 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oct. 8: Candidates will receive notification of their status<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oct. 11: Accepted candidates are invited to attend an NBCT jumpstart meeting (for candidates receiving funding through ACPS)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fall 2021 &#8211; Spring 2022: Work begins with the completion of components one and four\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>I\u2019m interested!
