Two ACPS assistant principals from Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School are among 11 leaders nationwide who have been singled out as a driving force behind their school\u2019s success. And, Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Teacher Christine Stafford has been chosen as one of 20 educators to participate in the prestigious DC Declaration of Learning program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.k12dive.com\/news\/rising-principals-school-leaders-driving-mentorship-support-counseling-a\/604330\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">K-12 Dive\u2019s \u201cInaugural Look at Rising Principals\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> puts the spotlight on Assistant Principals Dustin Barnes and Tiffany Young at Jefferson-Houston. Their innovative approach to mentorship has had a positive impact on student behavior and has led to better communications between parents and school leadership. Students are excited to see their assistant principals pop into classes to take part in the learning process or engage with them at recess. The presence and participation of this dynamic duo has built trust and connections between the school administration and its students and families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among hundreds of applicants for the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/dchistory.org\/dc-declaration-of-learning\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DC Declaration of Learning program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ACHS Teacher Christine Stafford has been selected to take part in the year-long teacher-training initiative. The program encourages civic engagement through object-based learning. Stafford successfully completed an intensive week-long professional development training session this summer. She worked one-on-one with an experienced mentor and is prepared to implement the object-based and project-based skills with her students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ACPS is proud of its staff accomplishments across the division.
