{"id":8976,"date":"2020-04-24T04:00:53","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T08:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/?p=8976"},"modified":"2020-04-23T19:26:16","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T23:26:16","slug":"covid-closure-staff-update-for-friday-april-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/covid-closure-staff-update-for-friday-april-24\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID Closure Staff Update for Friday, April 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Day 25 &#8211; Learning from Home Experience<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, I wanted to dedicate my letter to our incredible ACPS staff and community partners who continue to put others before themselves on a daily basis during this time of crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are people willing to step up for the good of our school division and go that extra mile.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The list is long, but <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thank you<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our teachers and educators who are striving to do the best for our children\u2019s education;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our school nurses who have been helping out at the Alexandria Health Department;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our counselors and social workers who always have the well-being of our students in mind;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the members of our technology team who have proved they are worth their weight in gold with their dynamism and foresight; and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our custodians and other essential staff who have shown willingness to pitch in and offer help wherever help is needed.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next Friday on <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.schoollunchheroday.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National School Lunch Heroes Day<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, I look forward to celebrating in a special way all those who work to keep our students fed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At times like these you learn who your friends are and, as it turns out, ACPS has many. Our community partners including the City of Alexandria and multiple local nonprofits have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us from day one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let me say, for all these efforts, I salute you. Hutchings, Jr.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Superintendent of Schools<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>ACPS COVID-19 Temperature Screening Program Begins on Monday<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beginning on Monday April\u00a0 27, anyone requiring access to an ACPS facility or school will be required to undergo a daily temperature check. The purpose of this screening is to help protect the ACPS workforce and to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Screening stations will be located at seven locations, at or near ACPS meal distribution sites and locations where major summer construction will take place. Screening will take no more than three minutes to complete and will involve the use of a no-touch LED forehead thermometer. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any person with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or lower (per Alexandria Health Department guidelines) will receive a dated wristband and be cleared to work or access the ACPS facility. These meals will be distributed on Friday and will cover both Friday and Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This means ACPS will now be providing meals for six days of the week.
