Teachers who had put in requests were alerted last week as to whether their projects had been awarded the funds they needed to fulfill them.

The Teachers’ Dream Fund enables teachers to develop innovative programs and activities that they are unable to implement using current school resources. The program, which encourages out-of-the box thinking, resourcefulness and creativity also serves to inspire fellow teachers.

The Dream Fund was established in 2010 with an initial budget of $27,000. Since then the program’s budget has grown to $57,000 in FY 2016. Since the program’s inception the Teacher’s Dream Fund, has fulfilled the dreams of teachers by funding more than 135 projects in schools spanning all grade levels throughout the City.

This year’s awards will fund projects that: offer performance-based learning experiences; encourage collaboration between students, teachers, community leaders and parents; integrate technology and fitness activities; offer cross-curricula programs that incorporate art, music and dance; enhance the learning of science, technology and math concepts.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

Awardee: William Donabedian
School: Francis C.
