{"id":7174,"date":"2019-06-02T20:00:14","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T00:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/?p=7174"},"modified":"2019-06-02T10:51:34","modified_gmt":"2019-06-02T14:51:34","slug":"225000-brain-boosting-activities-completed-during-march-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/225000-brain-boosting-activities-completed-during-march-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"225,000 Brain-Boosting Activities Completed During March Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twelve elementary schools have participated in a challenge to help promote the educational benefits of a physically active lifestyle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the month of March, schools competed to get the greatest number of classes and students moving consistently. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Move2Learn March Movement Challenge provided support for teachers to implement physical exercises into the daily structure of the curriculum. It also saw students complete more than 225,000 physical activities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the results of participant surveys, the increased activity had a positive impact on the classroom. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Physical activities were effective tools when used during transitional periods, helping to refocus young learners. Participants also noted that brain boosts were habit-building and pledged to continue developing these activities. \u201cSign me up for a fall and spring challenge,\u201d one participant responded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The March Movement Challenge was a component of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/runningbrooke.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RunningBrooke\u2019s Move2Learn program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
