This week, we have two great, long-term professional development opportunities for those who want to build technology skills or are interested in earning National Board Certification.<\/p>\n
Each course differs in objectives, requirements and has suggested prerequisites. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This eight-week blended course is designed to teach K-12 educators how to use and integrate the massive array of technology tools and software available in ACPS to support instruction. Topics include G Suite, Nearpod, WeVideo, Breakout EDU and more. <\/span><\/p>\n This course addresses the requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia\u2019s Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel, focusing on how educators function as digital leaders, skilled technology users, learning facilitators and lifelong learners.<\/span><\/p>\n The Digital Badging with Blended Learning course provides elementary teachers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of ACPS tools and resources (Brainpop and Nearpod) through training and certification to design a more personalized experience for students. The course provides teachers an opportunity to become a certified educator with one or two of the ACPS supported tools: Brainpop and\/or Nearpod.<\/span><\/p>\n TLP is a year-long cohort of K-12 educators interested in becoming technology leaders and collaborating with others across the division. Throughout TLP, you will have the opportunity to create an exemplary classroom that integrates technology to expand learning. TLP is also an opportunity to experiment and take risks in a supportive environment. Teachers in TLP gain experience leading and facilitating technology-rich learning opportunities for staff. As part of the TLP cohort, you will attend two full-day sessions in August and three full-day workshops and three after-school meetings throughout the year. The certification process identifies accomplished teachers through a rigorous program that includes four components: one exam and three portfolio submissions. Through NBCT, dedicated teachers demonstrate their commitment to teaching and maintaining the industry\u2019s highest standards.<\/p>\n Learn more about the <\/span>National Board Certification process<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n To be eligible for certification, applicants must:<\/span> ACPS supports a two-year submission time frame during which teachers participate in monthly meetings, are part of a professional learning community and receive support on the technical aspects of the process.
